As well as many other band tours at home and abroad the tours to visit our friends of The CJ Kickham Brass & Reed Band of Tipperary in 2006 and 2009 were memorable indeed. You could certainly not ask for better hosts who at every opportunity went out of their way to make sure my band was well looked after. From the local pubs at night and the bar in the hotel where the band were located, to the sore heads in the morning a great time was had by all.

Even throughout the town of Tipperary the townsfolk knew of the impending invasion of just over a hundred people from Ipswich in 2006 (and 80 in 2009.) and could not have made us more welcome. A full strength band went to Ireland on both occasions and were very well received by all who came to listen. From the tranquil setting next to Cahir castle to the stage of the Excel Centre in Tipperary were the packed audience clapped and cheered at the end of every piece. I’m sure that the trips to Ireland will always remain in the minds of those who went as being something special.
